Top 3 Tips to get your Golf Cart Summer Ready (Maintenance and Repair)

Jun. 6 2022 Miscellaneous By E3 Vehicles

Another beautiful summer is here, but, before we enjoy the conveniences and fresh air of driving your street-legal golf cart around - you need to make sure IT’S SAFE & FUNCTIONAL for yourself, family, and friends (passengers).

So let’s review 3 top tips to ensure your golf cart is ready to start cruising around this summer!

1. Set An Annual Maintenance Reminder

If you don’t have an annual maintenance plan, this is a must! Without a consistent year-after-year maintenance check, your electric golf cart will become more susceptible to mechanical issues and errors. Having this sort of maintenance plan every summer will ensure your golf cart can safely drive on roads 25mph or higher, while also ensuring it’s safe for the guests you drive around.

  • If you are completing the maintenance yourself, It’s as simple as setting a calendar reminder on your phone.

  • If you are lucky enough to have a golf cart mechanic nearby, ask them about an annual maintenance plan (TIP: this usually comes with a discount!). E3 Vehicles located in Hermosa Beach has

  •  professional golf cart mechanics available

  •  to perform this work throughout Los Angeles.

Here’s a look at their service checklist from 2022. It includes: Checking the battery quality, tires, brakes, charging and electrical system, operator controls, and exterior report.

2. Do Not Forget About Your Batteries

For an electric golf cart, the batteries are one of the most important parts of the vehicle - they are also one of the most expensive! There is nothing worse than having your golf cart batteries die out on you in the middle of summer.

*TIP: If your cart won’t turn on you may be able to have the batteries charged before fully replacing them. Call a mobile golf cart service center to bring a charging unit out before spending $100’s or $1,000s on a new set of batteries.

A few things to remember:

  • Make sure your batteries are not dry. Ensure distilled water is over the cell line in the battery compartment.

  • Charge your cart for a minimum of 8 - 24 hours before you take it on your first summer drive.

  • Keep an eye on your golf cars range. If it seems to be traveling less miles, you may have a dead battery cell or your batteries may be old and need to be replaced.

3. Summer Accessories

Once you’ve completed the annual maintenance and ensured your cart is safe to drive, it’s time to add some summer fun!

Here is a just a small list of accessories you can add to your street legal electric golf cart:

  • Bluetooth audio sound bar

  • Surfboard racks

  • LED Lighting kits

  • Roof racks

  • A rear flip seat

  • Bike tow package

  • And so much more . . .
