A street legal golf cart (also known in California as an LSV or Low-Speed Vehicle) is a type of vehicle that is specifically designed for use on roads and streets. Unlike a traditional golf cart - these vehicles are equipped with strong electric motors and reach speeds up to 25 mph.
Traditionally, the operation of a golf cart upon public roads is prohibited (or illegal), unless your vehicle is Street-Legal and meets certain criteria:
Must reach a speed of more than 20 mph but not more than 25 mph.
Must have a 17-digit conforming vehicle identification number (VIN)
Requires a valid California driver license, registration, and insurance.
